The JBJ Arctica 1/5HP Chiller is a high-performance inline aquarium chiller built for aquariums that require stronger temperature control than smaller chillers can provide. With a titanium heat exchanger, 1/5HP compressor, onboard electronic temperature control, and a flow range of 480 to 1320 GPH, this model is designed for larger freshwater, planted, marine, and reef systems where stable water temperature is critical for livestock health and long-term system stability.
JBJ Arctica 1/5HP Chiller Overview
The 1/5HP Arctica is a strong step up for aquariums with higher water volume, stronger lighting, larger pumps, enclosed equipment areas, or rooms that experience seasonal heat. It actively removes heat from circulating aquarium water and uses the onboard digital temperature controller to cycle the chiller as needed. Sizing and Installation Notes for the JBJ Arctica 1/5HP Chiller
The 1/5HP model is best selected based on the full heat load of the aquarium, not just the display volume. Consider sump volume, pump wattage, lighting, room temperature, canopy or cabinet ventilation, and the number of degrees the system must be cooled. For demanding reef systems or warm rooms, choosing a larger chiller can reduce strain and improve temperature recovery.
Directions
Install the chiller outside the aquarium in a dry, ventilated location with open airflow at the front and rear. Connect the inlet and outlet to a properly sized pump or plumbing loop using compatible tubing and the correct hose barb adapters. Start water circulation through the chiller before connecting power, inspect all fittings for leaks, and set the desired temperature with the built-in controller. Unplug the unit before maintenance, keep the condenser free of dust and debris, and periodically flush the heat exchange chamber as part of routine service.

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items

- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.
