Aquarium-Grade Means No Additives

The silicone at the hardware store usually contains mildewcide. In a sealed tank that leaches into the water and kills livestock. Aquarium-grade silicone is pure 100% RTV with no anti-fungal additives — that's the only spec that really matters here.

Choosing Colour and Size

• Clear — standard for glass tank repairs and anywhere you want the seam to disappear.
• Black — conceals algae and detritus buildup along the seam; a cleaner look on rimless builds.
• Sizes — 10oz cartridges for resealing a tank, 3oz tubes for small repairs.

Two things worth knowing: silicone bonds to glass but not acrylic (acrylic needs solvent cement), and the surface must be completely dry with all old silicone scraped away. Allow several days for a full cure before filling. Questions? Email info@jlaquatics.com.
