Dried and freeze-dried foods deliver much of what frozen offers with none of the freezer space or the thawing. They store at room temperature, portion cleanly and travel, which makes them the practical pick for small tanks, vacation feeding and anyone short on freezer room.

Soak before feeding. Freeze-dried items swell as they rehydrate, and doing that in a cup of tank water first prevents trapped air and stops them drifting out of reach.
