Collection: Carbon

Carbon's Actual Job

Activated carbon adsorbs dissolved organic compounds — the ones responsible for yellow water, odor and the chemical signaling corals use against each other. It doesn't touch ammonia, nitrate or phosphate, so it works alongside biological filtration and nutrient control, not instead of them.

What's Available

• Bulk activated carbon — cost-effective for reactors and bigger systems, from small bags up to bulk quantities.
• ROX 0.8 pellets — a dense, low-dust pelleted grade.
• Carbon-and-resin blends — organic removal plus resin filtration in one pre-packed media unit.
• Small and pre-bagged formats — for nano tanks and all-in-one filter chambers.

Rinse before use, run it in a media bag or reactor with moderate flow, and change it on a schedule — spent carbon simply stops working. If a reef has been running without carbon, introduce it slowly. Questions? Email info@jlaquatics.com.
