Reach Without Wrecking the View

Planting by hand means an arm in the tank and a cloud of substrate for the rest of the evening. Long tools do the work from above the waterline and place a stem far more accurately than fingers manage — which matters most with carpeting plants, where even spacing is the entire effect.

What's Here

  • Straight tweezers and forceps — planting stems and positioning small pieces.
  • Spacing tweezers — angled for setting carpet plants at consistent intervals.
  • Straight scissors — trimming stems and cutting runners.
  • Curved scissors — following the contour of a carpet without gouging it.
  • Substrate scrapers — leveling and shaping substrate, and clearing the sand line on the glass.
  • Cultivating pots — grow plants potted rather than rooted into the substrate.
  • Plant glue — cyanoacrylate gel for fixing mosses and epiphytes to wood and rock.

Rinse and dry stainless tools immediately after use, particularly in saltwater. Stainless resists corrosion, but it does not shrug off salt forever. Questions? Email info@jlaquatics.com. Ships across Canada.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
