Building a run

Each Loc-Line segment is a ball and socket that clicks into the next, so a length holds whatever bend you set. A connector attaches the line to the threaded port on a return bulkhead, segments carry it to where flow is wanted, and a nozzle at the tip shapes the output. Nothing is glued, so the aim can be rebuilt after rescaping without disturbing plumbing behind the tank.

Nozzles and options

• Round nozzles concentrate the stream; flare nozzles fan it out.
• Y fittings turn one return into two independently aimed outputs.
• An inline valve trims flow at the nozzle instead of at the pump.
• A 3/4 to 1/2 inch adapter lets both sizes appear in one assembly.

Size and handling

The 1/2 and 3/4 inch ranges only meet through the adapter, so choose the size the bulk of the run will use before buying parts. New segments separate by hand; after a spell in salt water they stiffen considerably, which is what the assembly pliers are for. Where a return comes over the rim rather than through drilled glass, a U-tube directional return is the simpler option.
