Rinse It Before It Goes In
New corals can arrive with unwanted hitchhikers attached. Rinsing a frag in a bucket is straightforward; chasing something around an established reef afterwards is not. A dip is a short step taken at the point where it costs the least.
Using a Dip
- Concentrated solution — diluted in tank water and used as a short bath, never poured into the display.
- Small and larger sizes — an occasional-use bottle, and a concentrate for anyone handling corals often.
- Follow the label — dilution and dip time vary by product and by coral, and the bottle instructions come first.
Mix the dip in a separate container using water from the tank, then rinse the coral in clean tank water before it goes in, so nothing rides across with it. Watch the coral while it sits in the dip and pull it early if it looks unhappy. Used dip water goes down the drain, not back in the aquarium. Questions? Email info@jlaquatics.com.
