A refugium exports nutrient by growing macroalgae you harvest and discard. None of that happens without light over the chamber, and refugium fixtures are built for that specific job — spectrum aimed at algae growth rather than coral color.

Reverse the photoperiod where you can, with the refugium lit while the display is dark. That tends to hold pH steadier over 24 hours, since the macroalgae keep consuming CO2 overnight.
