Collection: IceCap UV Sterilizer

IceCap UV units come in two forms on this page. In-Sump models are made to stand in the sump and are listed at 18, 27 and 40 watts. Standard models are listed at 27 and 40 watts. Replacement bulbs follow at 27 and 40 watts, which lets the lamp be renewed at the end of its life without changing the housing. Wattage is what links a bulb to a unit, and that figure is printed on the unit itself. Read it there, together with the form of the unit, before ordering a lamp.

Two forms of unit

IceCap lists its UV units in an In-Sump form and a standard form. The In-Sump models are dimensioned to sit within the sump and run 18, 27 and 40 watts. The standard models are listed at 27 and 40 watts. A system without a sump takes the standard form; a system with sump space to give up can take the in-sump form and keep the unit away from the display.

Where the wattages sit

  • Only the In-Sump form is listed at 18 watts.
  • Both forms are listed at 27 and at 40 watts.
  • Bulbs are listed at 27 and 40 watts.

Renewing the lamp

The lamp is the consumable in a UV unit while the housing carries on, which is why bulbs appear separately here. They are identified by wattage, and that number is printed on the unit rather than on a lamp already installed, so the unit is the place to check. Wattage selection tracks the flow rate through the unit as much as the volume of the system, making the plumbing worth deciding before the size is.
