Use a Separate Tank

Nearly every treatment is simpler, cheaper and safer in a bare quarantine tank than in a stocked display. Dosing is accurate against a known volume, nothing gets absorbed by rock or sand, and no invertebrate meets a product never intended for it. Quarantining new arrivals before they enter the display prevents more problems than any other single habit.

What's Here

  • Water treatments — slime coat and stress products for handling and moving fish.
  • Reef pest controls — products aimed at aiptasia and flatworms.
  • Nuisance algae treatments — including products aimed at cyanobacteria.
  • Medication binders — bind treatments into food for targeted dosing.
  • Chemical filtration pads — absorbent pads for stripping a treatment back out afterward.
  • Acclimation and breeding boxes — in-tank enclosures for new arrivals, fry and fish needing separation.
  • Specimen containers — for isolating, moving and observing individual fish.

Follow the label exactly. Dosage, duration and invertebrate compatibility vary by product, and the bottle instructions override anything written elsewhere, this page included. Pull chemical filtration before dosing, and run carbon or a binding pad once the course is finished. Questions? Email info@jlaquatics.com. Ships across the US and Canada.

J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
