Sizing within the range

Model numbers ascend through the line, making it simple to move up or down a size without changing pump design. Those figures do not describe what arrives at the outlet, though — head height, plumbing length and every fitting along the way reduce real output. Base the choice on the vertical distance the water must travel and the run it passes through, not the rating alone.

Replaceable components

• Impeller and shaft assemblies handle most rebuilds and are sold by model group.
• Separate assemblies cover the smaller and larger halves of the range.
• Bushing sets are typically renewed at the same time as the impeller.
• Covers are available individually for several pump sizes.

Rebuild before replacing

With wear parts sold individually, a Quiet One that has slowed down can generally be restored with a fresh impeller and shaft instead of a full replacement. Mineral scale and debris accumulate around the impeller with use, more quickly in hard water and saltwater systems, so periodic disassembly and cleaning pays off compared with running until failure. Stock the specific spare for your model — assemblies do not cross over between sizes.
