The JBJ Arctica 1/3HP Chiller is the largest model in the standard JBJ Arctica Aquarium Series and is built for aquariums with demanding cooling requirements. With a 1/3HP compressor, titanium heat exchanger, onboard digital temperature controller, and a flow range of 480 to 2420 GPH, this model is designed for large reef aquariums, marine systems, freshwater displays, and specialty temperature-sensitive setups where stable water temperature is essential.
JBJ Arctica 1/3HP Chiller Overview
The 1/3HP Arctica gives aquarists stronger cooling capacity for systems affected by high-output lighting, large pumps, warm rooms, enclosed equipment spaces, or a larger required temperature pull-down. Water is circulated through the external chiller, cooled through the titanium heat exchange chamber, and returned to the aquarium or filtration system. The built-in controller manages normal cooling cycles and helps maintain consistent temperatures for sensitive livestock.

Sizing and Installation Notes for the JBJ Arctica 1/3HP Chiller
The 1/3HP Arctica should be selected for systems where total water volume, equipment heat, ambient room temperature, and desired pull-down justify the larger model. Chiller sizing is not based on tank size alone. Warm rooms, enclosed stands, metal halide or high-output lighting, multiple pumps, and large temperature drops all increase cooling demand. Install the chiller where it can breathe freely and avoid recirculating warm exhaust air back into the intake.
Directions
Install the chiller on a stable surface in a dry and well-ventilated area. Connect the inlet and outlet with the appropriate adapters and a pump that delivers flow within the recommended range after plumbing loss is considered. Circulate water through the chiller before powering it on, check all fittings for leaks, and set the desired temperature using the digital controller. Always unplug the chiller before cleaning, keep the condenser free of dust and debris, and perform routine maintenance on the heat exchange path to preserve cooling performance.

Return Policy — Aquarium Equipment & Supplies
- All returns and/or exchanges must be made within 30 days of receipt of product.
- Before returning or exchanging any goods, you must contact J&L Aquatics to obtain a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA). Items returned without prior authorization will be declined.
- Returned items must be unused, in original packaging, in as-new condition, and in perfect sellable condition. All returns are subject to inspection upon receipt.
- A 15% restocking fee applies to all online returns. This fee includes the cost of outbound shipping.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping costs on standard returns.
- Order cancellations made before shipping are not subject to a restocking fee.

Defective, Warranty & DOA Items

- All defective claims are subject to inspection. Items showing signs of customer damage, improper installation, or misuse are not covered under warranty.
