HiBlow HP 40 Air Pump
HiBlow HP 40 Quiet Aeration for Aquariums and Ponds
The HiBlow HP 40 Air Pump provides dependable continuous airflow for aquariums, fish rooms, biological filtration systems, aquaculture tanks, hydroponic reservoirs and pond aeration installations. Its proven linear diaphragm design combines strong air delivery with low power consumption, minimal vibration and exceptionally quiet operation.
The HP 40 produces up to 80 litres per minute under low-pressure conditions and delivers approximately 40 litres per minute at its rated loading pressure of 12.8 kPa on 60 Hz power. This balance of output and pressure makes it well suited to multi-outlet manifolds, deeper air stones and systems that need considerably more capacity than a conventional aquarium air pump.
Why the HiBlow HP 40 Excels in Continuous-Duty Systems
- High maximum airflow: Produces up to 80 L/min under low-pressure conditions for flexible distribution across multiple aeration points.
- Rated performance under load: Delivers approximately 40 L/min at 12.8 kPa on a 60 Hz power supply.
- Exceptionally quiet operation: Operates at approximately 32 dBA measured from one metre, helping reduce intrusive equipment noise.
- Efficient continuous operation: Draws only 38 watts while providing the airflow required for demanding aeration applications.
- Oil-free linear diaphragm design: Supplies clean air without oil lubrication or the operating characteristics of a piston compressor.
- Low vibration and pulsation: Smooth electromagnetic operation helps maintain consistent air delivery while reducing mechanical disturbance.
- Thermal overload protection: Integrated protection helps safeguard the pump if excessive operating temperatures occur.
- Serviceable construction: Replaceable diaphragms, valves and filter components support long-term maintenance and continued use.

Matching the HP 40 to Airline and Diffuser Systems
Actual airflow at each outlet depends on water depth, diffuser resistance, airline diameter, tubing length, fittings and the number of connected aeration points. Maximum airflow represents operation with minimal resistance, while airflow decreases as system backpressure increases.
Use a properly sized distribution manifold with individual valves when operating multiple air stones, sponge filters or diffusers. Outlets installed at different depths may require balancing so that shallower diffusers do not receive a disproportionate share of the airflow.
Avoid undersized tubing, clogged air stones, closed valves and unnecessary sharp fittings. These restrictions can increase operating pressure and reduce delivered airflow. The completed system must remain below the HP 40's maximum continuous operating pressure of 20 kPa.
HiBlow HP 40 Installation Directions
Place the pump upright on a stable and level surface in a dry, well-ventilated location. Do not submerge the pump, expose it directly to water or block the air intake and cooling area. Pond installations should use a ventilated weather-protective enclosure.
Connect the supplied outlet fitting to compatible airline or a distribution manifold. Keep tubing runs as direct as possible and use larger-diameter line for long distances to minimize friction and backpressure. Install the pump above the water level whenever practical or use an appropriate check valve to reduce the risk of water siphoning toward the pump.
Verify airflow through every connected outlet before continuous operation. Inspect the inlet filter, tubing, valves and diffusers regularly and clean or replace restricted components as required. Connect the pump only to the voltage shown on its data label.
