Product Description
Fluval 307 Canister Filter
The Fluval 307 Canister Filter is a powerful 07 Series external filter for freshwater and saltwater aquariums from 40 to 70 US gallons / 90 to 330 L. With increased flow, a larger media capacity, and Fluval’s refined quiet-running canister design, the 307 is built for aquariums that need strong mechanical capture, flexible media loading, and stable biological filtration without stepping into the oversized FX platform.
High-Capacity 07 Series Filtration for Medium Tanks
The 307 is a strong fit for aquariums with heavier stocking, more plant mass, or a greater need for controlled water movement than smaller canisters can comfortably provide. Its vertical pre-filter and larger 3.1 L basket volume allow more room for staged media, giving hobbyists better control over mechanical polishing, chemical filtration, and biological media placement.
307 Canister Filter Features and Benefits
- Powerful eTEC motor platform: Efficient Technology construction supports strong pump performance, reduced energy use, and quiet operation.
- Strong circulation for 40-70 gallon aquariums: The 307 delivers higher pump output and filter circulation than the smaller 107 and 207 models.
- Large pre-filter surface area: The 803 cm2 vertical pre-filter helps intercept debris early and protects the main media baskets from rapid clogging.
- Multi-stage filtration path: Water first passes through foam pads before rising through the media trays, giving debris, chemical media, and biological media clear filtration zones.
- EZ-Lift media basket system: The center handle makes media access cleaner and easier during routine maintenance.
- Improved priming and service access: The large primer handle and Lift-Lock clamps reduce setup frustration and simplify cleaning.
- AquaStop valve control: The quick-disconnect valve system helps reduce spills when the canister is removed from the cabinet for service.
- Quiet cabinet operation: Enlarged rubber feet and a redesigned pump help reduce vibration and sound in daily use.

Best Uses for the Fluval 307
The Fluval 307 is well suited to larger planted aquariums, active community fish systems, medium saltwater aquariums, and display tanks where stronger circulation and greater media volume are important. It gives hobbyists more filtration headroom than a smaller canister while still remaining easier to place and service than high-output FX filters.

Setting Up the Fluval 307 Canister Filter
Position the canister below the aquarium, install the included media in the recommended flow path, connect the ribbed hosing, and prime the filter before powering it on. Maintain strong performance by cleaning foam and polishing media before flow drops noticeably, while preserving biological media by rinsing it gently in removed aquarium water during service.
