Focustronic - Nitrate Reagent Kit
The Focustronic - Nitrate Reagent Kit provides the chemical testing solutions required for automated nitrate measurement with the Focustronic Mastertronic Essential. Formulated for consistent colourimetric analysis, this two-part reagent kit supports approximately 200 nitrate tests and allows reef keepers to monitor nutrient accumulation, follow changes in aquarium filtration performance, and maintain nitrate levels appropriate for their livestock.
Automated Nitrate Testing for Reef Nutrient Management
Nitrate (NO3) is a key water quality parameter in marine aquariums. Its concentration is influenced by fish feeding, biological filtration, water changes, and nutrient export methods. Both excessive nitrate accumulation and overly aggressive nutrient reduction can affect the balance of a reef aquarium, making regular testing especially useful in systems with sensitive corals.
When installed in the Mastertronic Essential, the Focustronic nitrate reagents are used during programmed testing cycles to produce measurements that can be reviewed through the Focustronic app. Recorded results make it easier to identify gradual increases or decreases that might be missed with occasional manual testing.
- Approximately 200 tests: Supports routine automated nitrate measurements with a single refill kit.
- Two-part reagent system: Developed specifically for the Mastertronic Essential nitrate testing procedure.
- Precise nutrient measurements: The Mastertronic Essential specifies nitrate testing accuracy of approximately ±0.5 mg/L.
- Historical nutrient tracking: Enables regular nitrate measurements for evaluating changes in feeding and filtration.
- Integrated monitoring: Results can be reviewed alongside phosphate and other measured parameters within the Focustronic ecosystem.
Important Nitrate Reagent Preparation
Focustronic specifies that Nitrate Reagent 2 must be shaken vigorously for a minimum of 90 seconds before transferring it into the Mastertronic Essential reagent vial. This preparation step is important for achieving consistent test results. The two reagents must remain in their individually assigned vial positions, and the correct Focustronic nitrate reagent profile must be selected in the app. These reagents are intended for Mastertronic Essential and are not currently approved for the original Mastertronic.
Directions
Confirm that the Mastertronic Essential is configured for Focustronic nitrate testing. Shake Nitrate Reagent 2 vigorously for at least 90 seconds before filling the designated vial. Transfer Nitrate Reagent 1 into vial position 7 and Nitrate Reagent 2 into vial position 8, maintaining the required stirring component in vial 8. Do not exceed the manufacturer-specified fill levels. Update reagent volumes in the app, confirm the selected nitrate testing profile, and configure the desired schedule. Maintain clean reagent vials and follow the manufacturer's procedures when changing reagent brands or replacing depleted solutions.
What's Included
- Nitrate Reagent 1 - 100 ml (3.38 US fl oz)
- Nitrate Reagent 2 - 50 ml (1.69 US fl oz)
- Enough reagents for approximately 200 automated nitrate tests
