Match the Wattage, Then Verify It

Output is picked against tank volume and how cold the room gets. Undersized, a heater never catches up in winter; badly oversized, a stuck-on failure moves the temperature faster than you can react. Splitting the job across two smaller heaters is common on larger systems for that reason.

What's Here

  • Titanium heaters with external controllers — 100W through 500W, control unit outside the water.
  • Electronic glass heaters — 50W through 300W with adjustable thermostats.
  • Submersible heaters — 100W through 300W in shatter-resistant housings.
  • Mini heaters — 10W, for very small tanks and quarantine.
  • Holders and brackets — suction holders and magnet mounts.

Site the heater in moving water, and never leave one powered once the level has dropped — dry firing causes more heater failures than anything else. Verify against an independent thermometer instead of trusting the dial, and retire a heater that has started overshooting rather than nursing it through another season. Questions? J&L Aquatics was formed in December 1997

Our business was started from our love of the aquarium hobby. We at J&L Aquatics felt that the Canadian aquarist should have the option to purchase top quality supplies, equipment and livestock other than the generally over priced local retail stores.
