Straight and angled barbs

Barb adapters are the transition point between flexible hose and rigid plumbing. A straight barb carries the hose away in line with the fitting. A 90 degree barb turns it right at the bulkhead, which prevents the kink that happens when tubing is forced around a corner inside a cabinet. Threaded barb adapters serve the same purpose from any female threaded connection.

Intake protection

• Strainers stop fish, snails and debris entering drains and pump inlets.
• Low profile bodies suit intakes close to the glass or the sump wall.
• Slip strainers cement onto pipe; MPT strainers thread into a female port.
• Clogged strainers reduce flow, so inspect them with the rest of your maintenance.

Two sizes to check

Every adapter has two ends and they are measured differently. The barb matches tubing inside diameter; the opposite end matches the pipe thread or socket it joins. A 3/4 inch bulkhead does not imply 3/4 inch hose, so read both numbers before ordering rather than assuming they follow each other.
