Choosing between G6 models

Two decisions govern the range: size and spectrum. XR15 handles smaller reef tanks or areas with lower light demand, while XR30 carries a larger cluster for bigger displays. The Blue spectrum pushes actinic and 395nm output to drive fluorescence; the Pro spectrum is the broader balanced mix long used in coral farming. Both share the HEI2 optics, opening the beam to about 126 degrees and keeping PAR even across nearly four feet, which often means covering a tank with fewer fixtures. Freshwater models remain on the G5 platform, tuned for plant growth and fitted with two separately controlled moonlight channels.

The RMS mounting system

• RMS-15 and RMS-30 kits mount one fixture to the tank with sliding rails and a rotating X-bracket.
• Multi-light setups are assembled from arms, a track, and a slide for each fixture.
• Track lengths step from 20.5 to 90.5 inches and accept XR15 and XR30 slides together.
• Hanging kits are available for a single light or for a full rail.

Accessories and the G5 upgrade path

A diffuser clips on magnetically, softening caustics and improving color mixing at the cost of a little PAR. Spill shades work the other way, keeping light in the aquarium instead of the room, and come in three-sided form at 45 and 60 degrees in two heights. The G6 upgrade kits swap the cluster and lens inside an existing G5 body and add two years of warranty covering the new cluster. RMS components are compatible across both generations, so existing mounting hardware does not need replacing.
